About Us

The Salvation Army began the work at the corner of Weston Road and York Avenue in 1921 as the Mount Dennis Corps. With the opening of the current building in 1971, it was renamed York Temple and finally York Community Church in 2005.

York Community Church seeks to blend modern and traditional forms of worship to appeal to people of all ages and backgrounds. We believe that people have two great needs, to connect with God and with other people so we emphasize teaching the Bible as the source of all truth about God and his plan for us as human beings. We also emphasize the importance of building healthy relationships with each other so that we can find strength and encouragement from each other. After all, the church is the one place where no one should ever be alone.
