Ontario is reporting 421 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, and outbreaks at 24 hospitals, as its total cases reach 7,470 today, April 13.
There are now 89 outbreaks reported in long-term care homes, as well as the outbreaks confirmed at Ontario hospitals, including in Oshawa, Burlington, Mississauga, St. Catharines and Ottawa.
There are 741 cases reported in patients at long-term care homes, and 56 inpatients at hospitals. There are 430 COVID-19 cases confirmed in long-term care staff.
In York Region, institutional outbreaks have spiked in the last several days, including at Newmarket's Southlake Residential Care Village, Eagle Terrace Long-Term Care Home and Mackenzie Place Long-Term Care, as well as Chartwell Aurora Long-Term Care Residence.
Additional long-term care facilities among the 11 with COVID-19 outbreaks reported yesterday are Sunrise of Unionville and Villa Columbo Vaughan. Kerry's Place Autism Services in Pefferlaw is now among the five community care settings with COVID-19 outbreaks.
The death toll in Ontario is approaching the 300 mark, with another 17 deaths bringing the total to 291.
York Region reported three more COVID-19 related deaths last night, including the first death in Richmond Hill.
Ontario's numbers include the 291 deaths, 3,357 recoveries, and 760 patients hospitalized. There are 203 patients in Ontario currently on ventilators.
Ontario is reporting 108,230 people have been tested for the virus and there are 1,534 tests awaiting results.
The provincial average for lab-confirmed cases is 50.3 cases per 100,000 people. In Simcoe Muskoka, the average is lower at 24.7 cases per 100,000.
