All reported cases of COVID-19 in Bradford West-Gwillimbury are now listed as recovered, leaving zero active cases.

However, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit's  medical officer of health, Dr. Charles Gardner, said there's still every reason to keep practising public health measures such as physical distancing, frequent and proper handwashing, isolating yourself if you feel ill, and wearing a mask indoors where distancing is not possible.

He noted studies done so far using anti-body testing to determine immunity has shown a seroprevalence rate of about one per cent, meaning approximately one per cent of the population has antibodies against COVID-19.

Gardner said that means the infection rate has been about 10 times what lab-testing has picked up, and it also means about 99 per cent of the population is "vulnerable" to the coronavirus.

"I think it's important for people to be aware ... that people fully appreciate the nature of the risk," said Gardner. "It's ongoing. They can never know for sure who has this and who doesn't."

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 670 cases of COVID-19 to date, 11 of which remain active.

Yesterday, York Region Public Health reported Georgina is the first of its nine municipalities to achieve no active cases.

As of today, Aug. 13, 223 of York Region's 3,333 cases are active.

With six cases reported in the last week, 15 of Newmarket's 255 cases remain active — the fourth highest among the region's nine municipalities.
