COVID-19: Here's what's still open in Newmarket

Here's where you can get necessary supplies and support in Newmarket

The following is a running list of businesses and organizations still open to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you would like your notice added to this list, please contact [email protected]. Additionally, please refer to the Government of Ontario COVID-19 page for information. 


Home Depot is open, however, will be closing at 6 p.m. daily beginning Saturday, March 21. Home services continue to be offered, as well as deliveries for purchases made at homedepot.ca 

Nearly 30 Upper Canada Mall retailers and restaurants for take-out only remain open with the vast majority operating with the reduced hours of 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The mall itself remains only during its regular business hours of 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Shops remaining open include Shoppers Drug Mart, Ashley Home Store, Bank of Montreal, Continental Currency, Dr. Elmalem & Associates, Dr. Eric Bella & Associates, EB Games, Salon Andre, Ma’s Best Quality Soup and Village Juicery at Market & Co., among others. Shoppers Drug Mart has designated its first hour of operation for seniors and individuals with disabilities. As of March 19, many Shoppers locations are revising their hours of operation. Check your local store hours here

All grocery stores remain open, and are encouraging shoppers to practise social distancing. Longo's has reduced hours of operation to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. to provide staff "more time to sanitize, restock stores and rest".

As of March 19, Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstore, NoFrills are reducing hours of operation to 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the first hour dedicated to seniors and those with disabilities.The number of customers permitted in the busiest stores at one time will be limited to facilitate social distancing. The fee for plastic bags will be temporarily removed to discourage the use of reusable bags. *John's NoFrills at 50 Davis Dr. is open from 7 to 8 a.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays only for seniors and people with disabilities.

The LCBO, the Beer Store and the Ontario Cannabis Store are continuing operations. As of Thursday, the LCBO is reducing hours to 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Most banks and financial institutions remain open.

Cafes and restaurants have been ordered closed to dine-in customers by the government of Ontario, but may remain open for takeout and delivery. UberEats has waived delivery fees.

York Support Services Network has closed its offices, however, the Community Crisis Response Service offers 24-7 mental health support at  1-855-310-COPE (2673). You can live chat with a crisis worker at cope.yssn.ca. Streamlined access is available by calling toll-free 1-844-660-6602, or apply online at cope.yssn.ca.

CHATS (Community Home Assistance for Seniors) continues to offer essential services, including Meals on Wheels, personal support and home support services, telephone assurance, and transportation services.
