See Newmarket-Aurora candidates debate in person, online tonight

You can find out where the parties stand on the top issues by attending at the NewRoads Performing Arts Centre, or watching on Zoom, beginning at 7 p.m. May 19

Newmarket-Aurora candidates in the June 2 provincial election will face off on the issues tonight, May 19, in a debate hosted by Newmarket Chamber of Commerce, NewmarketToday and Newmarket Era.

You can meet and speak with participating candidates in the theatre lobby from 6:30 to 7 p.m. prior to the debate.

Candidates who have confirmed attendance are Sylvain Roy for the Liberal Party, Dennis Heng for the NDP, Carolina Rodriguez for the Green Party, and Iwona Czarnecka for the Blue Party.

All registered candidates in the riding were invited to participate in the debate, however, Dawn Gallagher Murphy for the Progressive Conservative Party has declined, and Ontario Party and Ontario Moderate Party candidates did not respond. 

The debate takes place from 7 to 9 p.m.

The NewRoads Performing Arts Centre (former Newmarket theatre) is at 505 Pickering Cres. (at Newmarket High School, near Mulock and College Manor drives).

Candidates will be asked questions on the top issues of the election by a panel of journalists, as well as have an opportunity to respond to other candidates' answers in a face-to-face debate.
