Aurora Champions Green Living with Exciting Waste Events Throughout the Year

article-2-waste-events

Aurora is on a mission to make our Town greener starting with a lineup of waste events all year round, to encourage residents to reduce waste and embrace a greener lifestyle.

E-waste Days

One of the highlights on Aurora's waste events calendar is the upcoming E-waste Days, where residents are invited to responsibly dispose of obsolete electronic items. This initiative not only helps in proper e-waste management but also contributes to minimizing the environmental impact of electronic waste. Mark your calendars for May 11 and October 25 and bring your old gadgets to the designated collection points on E-waste Days.

Curbside Cleanup Days

For those looking to declutter their homes and contribute to a circular economy, Aurora has extended its Curbside Giveaway Days to Saturday’s and Sundays from April to October. Residents are encouraged to place gently used household items that still have life in them to the curb on weekends for others to take. This not only diverts items from landfills but also allows others in the community to give it a new home.

Community Cleanup Days

Aurora recognizes the importance of maintaining clean public spaces for everyone to enjoy. Join us on April 20 for our Spring Community Cleanup Day and September 28 for Fall Community Cleanup Day, where you can gather with friends and family to clean up parks, trails, and streets. This collective effort not only beautifies our community but also fosters a sense of pride among residents.

Community Garage Sale

As the saying goes, one person's trash is another person's treasure. Aurora will once again host a Community Garage Sale on June 15, providing residents with the opportunity to sell their gently used household items. It's a win-win situation – you declutter your home, and someone else gets a chance to give new life to your pre-loved items.

Rain Barrel Sale

New to Aurora's waste events lineup this year will be the option to purchase a Rain Barrel in May. Residents are encouraged to participate in this initiative, promoting water conservation and sustainable practices. By collecting rainwater in barrels, residents can reduce their dependence on traditional water sources and contribute to the overall environmental health of the community.

These waste events are a fantastic way for residents to actively participate in creating positive change, one small action at a time. To stay informed about all the upcoming waste events, residents are encouraged to visit Aurora's waste events page at aurora.ca/wasteevents and follow us on Facebook Instagram and X for the latest on all our waste events.
