NewmarketToday, in partnership with the Ontario SPCA York Region Animal Centre, brings you a regular feature highlighting special pets in need of adoption.

My name is Korra.

The name Korra has a Greek origin, meaning heart, and I’ve got a lot of it.

I am a young, noble, smart and energetic girl, and once I get to know you, I am sure to be your best friend. I greet all the staff here with a wagging tail.

I’m always curious about the world around me, sniffing out new smells and exploring new places. I’m a quick learner and very food motivated. If I knew how, I’m sure I’d backflip for a liver treat. So far, I know sit, down, shake and speak.

I can be a little shy at first, but give me a little time and I’ll warm up to you. Once I trust you, I’ll be your lifelong companion. I have a history, like everyone does, but I’m ready to start a new chapter. With that being said, I’d do best in a home without cats or kids and in an environment that is quiet and, ideally, without a lot of visitors. Too much action can make me nervous. It should also be noted I haven’t been tested with other dogs yet.

Adopting me means gaining a loyal companion who will always be curious and excited about spending life with you. If you’re interested in setting up a meet-and-greet, please reach out to my friends here at the Ontario SPCA York Region Animal Centre by email or phone.
